Threadneedle Hedge Funds
Threadneedle launched its first hedge fund in September 2000. Our experienced team have built a strong track record across the risk spectrum in hedge fund strategies including long/short equity, fixed income, emerging markets, macro and commodities.
A strong investment team
Threadneedle devotes significant resources to in-house research, supported by a large and highly experienced team of investment professionals. While our hedge fund managers have autonomy in investment decision making and freedom to pursue their convictions, they are also able to leverage Threadneedle's extensive research platform. This is reflected in their ability to generate alpha and deliver consistent, absolute returns irrespective of market conditions.
An emphasis on managing risk
There are three key components to our investment risk management process; the Fund Managers, our Risk Team and a dedicated Hedge Fund Risk Committee. Fund managers continuously monitor their portfolios risk exposures and conform to rigorous guidelines, while our independent Risk Team provide comprehensive risk and quantitative analytics and report the results of their analysis in a thorough daily risk report. The Hedge Fund Risk Committee is chaired by Threadneedle's Chief Risk Officer and meets on a frequent basis. With a front office focus, its main purpose is to discuss the risk profiles being adopted by Threadneedle's hedge funds.
Robust Operational Risk management
We strongly believe that Threadneedle's operational set-up helps to mitigate the non-investment risks often associated with investing in hedge funds. A dedicated Operations Oversight Team supervises the fund administrator's activities. This provides a process to ensure the accuracy and timely production of NAV calculations. They also maintain regular contact with portfolio managers and prime brokers to resolve any issues and ensure a smooth, seamless service is provided.
