Investment Process
Threadneedle UK Mid 250 Fund focuses on three key investment principles to drive stock selection:
1. Where might the consensus forecasts be wrong?
2. What is the growth rate and how sustainable is it?
3. Could the stock be re-rated given the fund manager's view of
the market?
One of the primary considerations of the Fund given its focused nature is discipline and equally knowing when to hold and when to exit a holding. A stock must satisfy each of the three key principles to be considered as a holding within the portfolio. Overarching all the above is a clear view of markets and therefore asking the right questions given the current market conditions.
Investment Strategy
The Fund Manager has identified four key themes that are currently driving stock selection strategy:
1. Cyclical recovery - both consumer and industrial.
2. Gearing into risk asset recovery.
3. Defensive growth.
4. Desirable markets, technologies, M&A targets.
By focusing on these themes, the Fund Manager targets the most appropriate areas of the market to generate the stock ideas with the most potential.
